HEART BREAK AT RMN NATIONALS FOR DURAN WRESTLERS
THE DURAN WRESTLING ROSTER WAS THE BEST EVER. WE HAD 19 ELITE WRESTLERS AND WE PLANNED ON TAKING HOME MORE THAN A COUPLE OF NATIONAL TITLES. WE WOULD FILL THE 14 MAN ROSTER WITH VERY GOOD ATHLETES. ONE OF THE BIGGEST HEART BREAKS OF THE DAY WAS WATCHING OUR VERY OWN IDAN PEEK BE SEEDED NUMBER ONE AND LOSE IN THE FIRST ROUND. THAT WOULD SET THE TONE FOR THE ENTIRE TEAM AS WE WOULD ALL HAVE A ROUGH DAY. EVEN THOUGH WE LOST SOME MATCHES THE DURAN TEAM WOULDNT GO WITHOUT A FIGHT. IT WAS ONE POINT LOSSES ALL DAY OR OVERTIME LOSSES THAT WOULD SEND OUR WRESTLERS PACKING HOME. WE HAD MATTHEW APODACA, JOE GARZA, DAKOTA COLONESSE, AIDEN KNICLEY, KAIN COLONESSE, ALL END THE TOURNAMENT ONE WIN SHY OF COMING HOME A NATIONAL PLACERS. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THESE WRESLTERS DID AN OUTSTANDING JOB. I HAVE NEVER SEEN OUR WRESTLERS GIVE SO MUCH AND LEAVE WITH SO LITTLE. EVERYONE OF THEM LEFT IT ON THE MAT. MATTHEW APODACA LOST SOME VERY CLOSE MATCHES BY 1 AND TWO POINTS. JOE GAZA LOST HIS MATCHES IN OVERTIME, KAIN WOULD WIN A COUPLE THIRILLERS IN OVERTIME. I COULD STILL HEAR THE ROAR HE LET OUT WHEN HE THREW THE WINNING TAKE DOWN IN OVERTIME. AIDEN WOULD EVEN WIN A COUPLE MATCHS BY LARGE MARGINS. DESPITE ALL THE EFFORT THE BRACKETS WERE TO MUCH AND TO BIG FOR OUR WRESTLERS TO END THE DAY WITH A MEDAL. THEY ALL WRESLTED VERY HARD AND LOOKED VERY IMPRESSIVE. THANK YOU DO ALL THE DURAN PERSONELL THAT ATTENDED AND ESPECIALLY COACH BAILEY WHEN HIS SON DIDNT EVEN WRESTLE HE STUCK IT OUT TILL THE END. ROWENA AND SPROCKET PEEK, AND THE LOUSE FAMILY FOR STUCKING IT OUT TILL THE END AND CHEERING OUR WRESLTERS TILL THE VERY END. THANK YOU TO THE ATHLETES FOR GIVING ALL YOU HAVE.
ROOKIE NATIONALS
IT WAS IDAN PEEK WHO WOULD EARN A SILVER MEDAL. AND BRADLEY LOUSE WHO EARNED A 5TH PLACE MEDAL. BRADLEY LOOKED VERY IMPRESSIVE AND WAS DOING HIS MOVES AND REALLY WRESLTED HARD. THANK YOU BRADLEY AND THANK YOU IDAN WHO ALWAYS LEAVES IT ALL ON THE MAT EVERY TIME.

DURAN FEMALE WRESTLE RS ARE ON FIRE
THE DURAN GIRL WRESTLERS DID THE ACTUAL GIRLS WRESTLING ASSOCIATIONS COLORADO STATE WRESTLING TOURNAMENT IN PUEBLO COLORADO THIS WEEKEND. THE EVENT WAS HELD ON SUNDAY AND SINCE MOST OF THE DURAN TEAM WAS WRESTLING SATURDAY MOST WERE UNAWARE THAT ARE GIRLS WERE HEADED INTO BATTLE FOR ANOTHER STATE TITLE. IT WAS ONE WEEK AGO THAT TWO OF THE BARELA FAMILY GIRLS LEFT CASTLE ROCK WITH FIRST PLACE TROPHIES AND THE TITLE GIRLS STATE CHAMPION. AND ONE WEEK LATER THEY HAVE TO LAY THERE TITLE ON THE LINE AND ENTER THE CIRCLE FOR ANOTHER CHANCE AND ANOTHER TITLE. BOTH OF THE STATE CHAMPION GIRLS WOULD REPEAT THERE EXPERINCE FROM ONE WEEK AGO. WINNING THERE AGE AND WEIGHT LEAVING PUEBLO AS THEY DID CASTLE ROCK TROPHY IN HAND AND STATE CHAMPIONS FOREVER. WE ALL KNOW THAT MISHALIA AND ALEX ARE THE ABSOLUTE BEST THAT THERE IS AND WE ARE VERY PROUD OF THEM. BUT THEY DIDNT ENTER THE TOURNAMENT ALONE. MEILENNE BARELA ALSO ENTERED THE CIRCLE TO SEE IF SHE COULD IMPROVE FROM HER FOURTH PLACE FINISH A WEEK AGO. YOUTH STATE TOURNAMENT
THIS WAS THE BIGGEST STATE TOURNAMENT YET. ALL DURAN WRESTLERS DID A GREAT JOB RESULTS ARE ON 2012 STATE PAGE. GREAT JOB ALL DURAN PERSONAL.
Youth All State Tournament.
This tournament did not start out very well. First we had 3 of our elite wrestlers not attend weight-ins. Then we had an elite wrestler fail to make weight. We then would attend this very tough tournament with 5 elite wrestlers and the rest of the roster was B and C group beginners. We also failed to fill the minimum of 14 man roster. Despite all that each wrestler that attended wrestled with all that they have and tried to fill the blank spots in our rosters with pure heart. It was very hard for our wrestlers in this tournament since we are not seeded in any bracket. Each of the 5 elite wrestlers would bring home a medal. Dylan Kolb was the first Duran wrestler to get a medal, has he ended the day with a second place medal. Also receiving silver was Idan Peek who won a thriller in his wrestle back in a one point match. Steven Apodaca also wrestled very hard beating two different national champions to receive his third place. Charles Harris Faithfull earned a fourth place. Cory Henning would earn a 6th place medal. Also attending the tournament was Kayden Dillion, Aiden Knicley, Keith Bailey, Quentin Herrera, Emilio Maes, Rand Louse, And Bradley Louse. We are very proud of the Duran Wrestlers that attended and wrestled very hard thank you guys very much.
High School Sophomore Freshmen State Tournament.
We took four wrestlers to this very tough tournament. leading the way was Matthew Apodaca ending the day with a fourth place. He wrestled very hard and made it to the semi finals losing the match to the champion by one point. Also attending was Dakota Coloness who was only one match away from the medal round. Rudy Vasquez also attended the tournament. He would win one match and lose two very close matches. Also attending was Billy Ryan. All wrestlers did a great job.
First ever Triple Crown Contention
Idan Peek from Duran Wrestling has won two National Tournaments this year for the Elite Brackets and also one for the Rookie Brackets. Idan is now up for the triple crown contentions. Triple Crown criteria is that you must win three national tournaments, one out of state and then Rocky Mountain Nationals. Idan has done all the hard work to make this dream a reality. Idan won the New Mexico National Showdown and also the Wild West National tournament. Now he is sitting and looking forward to becoming the first ever Duran Triple Crown Winner. Idan is a very hard worker and always has the utmost level of sportsmanship. Idan we are very proud of you and you must continue to do what it was that got you were you are. Hard work and hard work alone is what it will take for you to win this prestige award. Good Luck
Wyoming Wild West Nationals
Duran had two wrestlers attend the National tournament this weekend. It was Jacob Prillaman and Idan Peek. Jacob has been part of the Duran Wrestling Team for 2 and half years. He has always attended these tournaments since day one. The elite division is brutal and very hard to get a win for any wrestler let alone a beginner. While today was different for him. This is Jacobs first ever elite National win. He went 3-2 on the day and just fell short of the medal round. Jacob we are very proud of you and thank you for always staying tough and never giving up. Idan Peek also attended the tournament. He weight in at 141 and had to wrestle 156. Not making any excuses he did what was asked of him and he went in with a positive attitude and walked out a national champion. Great Job Boys

RIGHT BEHIND THEM WAS DYLAN KOLB WINNING HIS BRACKET. THIS WAS BY FAR THE TOUGHEST TOURNAMENT OF THE YEAR SO FAR.

5 Duran Wrestlers will compete This Saturday for The Dan Gable

Steven Apodaca 24, Dori Palacio 22, Dyaln Kolb 21, Isaiah Games 23, Joe Barela 19. Dan Gable is a Series of Tournaments were elite wrestlers are award points per place.
